Friday morning means a new Project 52 post for you to feast your eyes on. Some of the members of the Beautiful Beasties Network (a professional pet photographers’ forum) are taking on the challenge of doing pet-related photography, with a theme that changes every week, for an entire year. The goal is to start shooting outside the box, to challenge ourselves as photographers and to expand our vision and talents. So far I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my participation, and I have learned to look at my dogs and their accoutrements in a different light (and at a different angle).
Choosing this week’s theme was Raleigh pet photographer Tara Lynn. For most pet photographers (hopefully all!), this time of year is crazy with shooting, editing and creating holiday cards. So she chose to take the focus OFF the work and onto what we do when we play instead of work. In Tara Lynn’s words “. . . what is your “non-work”? What do you do when you are not behind a camera or computer screen?”
Considering the fact that pet photography is my part-time job, and that my full-time job is ALSO computer centered, not much of my day is spent away from the screen. But my absolute favourite way to unwind and process things is to go for a walk. I love feeling at one with nature, and getting fresh air and sunshine. Despite having three dogs, my faithful walking partner is Jack Jack, the “baby” in the family. He LIVES for his walks, and at least half the time he is the sole reason I get my butt off the chair to get outside.
So here’s a photo of Jack Jack during a recent walk . . . on the weekend, since it gets dark very early these days. It’s tough walking in the winter here in Northern Alberta. The sun is down by about 4:30pm, so it’s definitely dark when I get home. But we use a light up collar and that helps a lot.
Jack Jack on the move. We have gotten much more snow since I took this photo! It seems like it will never stop.
Even with the snow, he’s thrilled to be outside. I don’t always have his level of enthusiasm, but I appreciate a good walk.
I hope you’ve enjoyed relaxing with me! As this is a blog ring, please continue to StinkDog Photos in Denver, Colorado’s blog for more awesome photos . Once you’re done with Deanna’s blog, keep clicking through the links at the end of each blog until you get back here, and you’ll have seen all of the Project 52 blog posts for this week.
