Project 52 – Week 21 – Urban Dawgs

Friday morning means a new Project 52 post for you to feast your eyes on.  Some of the members of the Beautiful Beasties Network (a professional pet photographers’ forum) are taking on the challenge of doing pet-related photography, with a theme that changes every week, for an entire year.  The goal is to start shooting outside the box, to challenge ourselves as photographers and to expand our vision and talents.  So far I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my participation, and I have learned to look at my dogs and their accoutrements in a different light (and at a different angle).

This week’s theme is Urban, and here is what photographer Kaylee Greer (who chose the theme) had to say about it:

This week’s theme is ‘Urban’. Let’s bring our subjects to the city! I’d love to see photos of our pets (or clients pets) in front of buildings, gritty wall textures, in alleyways, maybe even by some graffiti — Really anything that says ‘urban’ to you!

I struggled a bit with choosing a location.  I am guilty as charged – I prefer grass and trees and flowers when photographing dogs – I’m thankful for the challenge to think outside the box this week.

I took the dogs to their favourite store in town – The Bone & Biscuit Co.  It’s a boutique pet store that offers high-end dog and cat food, awesome treats, great toys and all kinds of other great things.  The Bone & Biscuit allows customers to bring their pets into the store (as long as they’re moderately well-behaved) and when the dogs’ birthdays roll around, I take them in and let them choose their own presents.  Fortunately there was a shopping cart nearby, so I made use of it.

Thank God for dogs that will do anything for a cookie!  Jack Jack is happy to be at his favourite store.

The KLAD kids are excited about shopping . . . they have their cart all ready to go!

Okay, enough pictures . . . we want our cookies now!

I you’ve enjoying seeing the city through my lens.  As this is a blog ring, please continue on to Central Coast pet photographer Sharon Stokes’ blog  for more awesome photos .  Once you’re done with Sharon’s blog, keep clicking through the links at the end of each blog until you get back here, and you’ll have seen all of the Project 52 blog posts for this week.
